The DeathToll Arena first qualifier ended with a blast! Our Counter-Strike™ Online veterans battled it out to represent Singapore in the OneAsiaCup grand finals which will be held in Malaysia this November. The top team of this qualifier will also be seeded into the quarter finals of Singapore’s WCG national qualifiers where the champion will represent Singapore in the International grand finals held in China, Shanghai.
The format is a double elimination stage.
Teams who have lost a game will still be able to win the qualifiers if they manage to win all their remaining games.
The qualifier kicked off with a bang as Ameliorate takes on Vaincre and EatYourVitamins goes head on with Quackers!.
It was Vaincre and Quackers! who emerged victorious as Ameliorate and EatYourVitamins were overwhelmed by their massive firepower and well coordinated movement, dropping to the loser’s bracket.
After half a day of hard fought battles, Bovines proved to be the better team by coming out as the winner of the loser bracket. They then moved on to face Litelab, who had been dominant throughout the whole tournament, coming into the grand finals from the winner’s bracket undefeated.
These 2 teams proved to be the main stars of the day. Facing each other previously in the 3rd round, the score ended up in a 15-15 draw, with Litelab knocking Bovines to the loser’s bracket after a tie-breaker.
Litelab seemed to have secured their throne as they ended the first half with a score of 12-3. However, Bovines wasn’t going down without a fight. The second half saw Bovines putting up an impressive performance and making a comeback, ending the match with yet another draw between these 2 teams. This time however, it was Bovines who would have the last laugh as they finally broke Litelab’s winning spree in the tie-breaker.
Contrary to their previous games, the grand final was pretty one-sided. Litelab’s insatiable thirst for victory led them to a 16-2 win over Bovines, securing them a fully sponsored trip to OAC and a top8 slot in the WCG.
